A word of warning before you enter: if you're the kind of person who likes order, seriousness of purpose, and outright professionalism, you'll find (almost) none of that here. You might want to turn the car around before going any farther down this road.
However, if you have an eclectic counseling style... if you like to take the best bits and pieces from your favorite approaches and combine them in a way that makes sense to you... if you love and respect kids and believe that engaging them AND teaching them social-emotional skills are not mutually exclusive endeavors... if you're kind of a weirdo... then this might be your kind of place.
So why did I decide at my advanced age to start a school counseling website? I could say that I wanted to share the extensive knowledge I've gained in my storied career, thus paying back the kindness and generosity of my colleagues and mentors. It wouldn't be untrue, exactly.
But what's truer is that:
I needed a virtual file cabinet before I either got crushed by a massive paper-slide in my office or that same mountain of papers spontaneously combusted and burned the school down
I also needed a virtual file cabinet because I can't remember what I even have anymore, let alone where I put it
I needed an elaborate cover for my Pinterest addiction
I've been a school counselor and a children's outpatient clinician for about 25 years. I've got a lot of stuff, and a decent chunk of it is here. If you don't mind the mess (which I'm working on, but like laundry it's a job that never ends), then come in, look around, and help yourself to anything you think you can use.
Leave a comment somewhere if you can. As may already be obvious to you, I don't get out much. I'll take adult contact any way I can get it.
Thanks for stopping by! Laurie
p.s. Everything I offer you on this site is free, and you'll notice I don't have any advertising. However, I do provide links in some spots to some of my original counseling products on Teachers Pay Teachers, where I've had a store since early 2014. I hope you'll consider checking it out and becoming a follower!
